Mckee Biography

Mckee Thatcher Short Biography

From a sparring young age Mckee Thatcher has been playing varying instruments, he started off being classically trained learning how to play the piano from his mother who instilled a love for music at the age of 3. As Mckee grew older he was able to apply the concepts he learned to other instruments such as the guitar, banjo, and bass. He has been able to meld those concepts he learned and instruments he picked up along the way into the music he makes today. When he was young he listened and later drew inspiration from great Musicians such as Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Neil Diamond, and The Killers.

Mckee grew up in a southern Californian town called Indio funny enough this is the same town where the Art and Music Festival Coachella is hosted every year. Thankfully he was able to be exposed to all genres of music. In his high school years, he pulled a lot of inspiration from artists such as M83, Alt-J, Tame Impala, Beach House, Alabama Shakes, Flume, and many other artists that came through year after year.

Throughout his life, Mckee more often than not had his headphones on or earbuds in trying to drown out the negative and self-conscious thoughts. Trying to find a place to escape, music was the only thing that could satisfy that feeling. Especially as a teenager, he considered music the highlight of his life because it helped him hide from himself but when he made the decision to go on a service mission to Japan his access to music that had helped in the past had not been so easy to access, forcing him to face himself for the first time. During this time he was able to discover that music was something else for him, not only was it a way where he could put up his walls and hide away from the world but it was also how he could freely express himself to the world. Not too long after he returned from Japan Mckee began to take music seriously, but it wasn’t till almost a year later that he decided to put out his first single in July of 2020 “Bridges and Planes” then followed up just two months later releasing “I’ll Take Back My Heart..” After receiving much support from friends and family he continued to work on his music but was told by his father and some of the people that were closest to him not to make a career out of it, that it was the smartest idea to keep it a side project and go to college instead. Heeding the advice of his father he began attending Utah State University. During his time at college, music was on his mind but had to take a back seat due to classes, school work, and new social life. After some time adjusting to college, Mckee was able to work on new projects leading to his first EP in April of 2021 “Mosaic Floors” and his single “Moonflower” where he pulled inspiration from artists such as M83 and Alt-J. After these projects, he received much more support from his friends and family, especially from his father. This gave him the courage to be more refined and precise with his work but not too long after he had a falling out with a love interest leading to his singles “Watch You Fall In Love” in May of 2022, a song that will have your heart in a torrential whirlwind and “Feeling Sunny” an upbeat song with much more emotional lyrics. Since then he’s been on a personal journey of continual discovery within all aspects of his life but especially in his music where he continues to refine his art as is noticed in his most recent singles of 2022 “Tryna Be Like You”, “I Guess That’s Love” and “Sweet Psychosis” where he takes you along three different emotional yet relatable paths now pulling inspiration for artists such as Beach House, Goth Babe, and Ritt Momney.

Since his journey of self-discovery and the success of his first time playing his music live he has been working meticulously on new music trying to get it to the ears of people who don’t know that they’re fans yet and to his underground fans who have been supporting him throughout his journey. He has many aspirations moving forward wanting to put out a debut album, collaborating with some of his favorite artists, and performing across the nation but especially on a stage of his hometown festival Coachella.
